Modding a community is certainly an interesting experience...

For example, I co-mod the Lewis comm here on Livejournal - inspector_lewis. I'm pretty hands-off and by and large the community mods itself - I guess the kind of fans attracted to a show like Lewis are a fairly civilised bunch! So it just ticks along nicely and I pop in and out, but it's all very quiet and restrained, which suits me.

I'm a fandom magpie, and I'll get head-first involved in fandom whilst the love lasts, and when it fades away I tend to just linger on the periphery. As with inspector_lewis - rene_starko and I created the comm early on in the show's history when I was in that first flush of fandom love, and I'm not quite so head-on crazy anymore, but I'm still fond of it. Maybe I should hand over modding the comm to someone more involved, I don't know.

Anyway, today I got an email from a researcher at an independent TV production company, who are creating a show about 'crime thrillers' to air weekly in the run-up to the Crime Thriller Awards on ITV3 in October. They're looking for participants and I guess, Googling Lewis fans or whatever, they came across our wee comm.

Fielding emails from TV production companies was not something I ever anticipated in my modding career. I can only imagine what it must be like modding one of the really big, high-profile fan communities!

But anyway, I know there are a few fans on my flist who are into these shows - Lewis, Foyle's War, Morse, Broadchurch, Sherlock Holmes are some of the ones mentioned - so if any of you are interested in being on TV, let me know, and I'll pass on the contact details!
