But I couldn't let either of these go past without commenting, so...
Supernatural first.
I adored this. Yes, it felt like a bit of a whiplash in tone from last week's heartbreak to this week's silliness, but ehh, that's SPN.
I love the reminders that Dean is at heart a complete dork, how he'd start to grin and then see Sam's face and hide it. Remember the western episode? Dean loves to play dress-up, he'd be totally into role-play, in and out of the bedroom. And he did look good in his breeches and chainmail.
And that last scene, OMG, I think I laughed until I choked. The hair and the facepaint and the 'Braveheart' speech and the time-out for the frisbee guy and the slow-motion charge at the end. I don't know how many times they had to shoot this because I bet the boys were just cracking up the whole time.
And then I watched the pilot episode of The Following. This is airing on Sky only a day after the American airdate, so for once, no piracy in order to keep up! Hooray!
Down side - I may never fancy James Purefoy again. I'm sorry, James, that's it for me now. I loved you in A Knight's Tale, loved you in Rome, loved you in Ironclad and Solomon Kane, but this? This was a step too far. Now you just scare the crap out of me.
I'm really excited for this show, it's rare that a TV pilot can grip me so off the bat. It felt more like a film than TV, and that's always a good sign. Plus, I love Kevin Bacon. Man can do no wrong. It'll be wonderful to see him regularly on TV.
But damn, this show. It had me shrieking about ten minutes in, when the woman covered in Poe quotes stabbed herself in the eye. And Maggie Grace's character getting killed, I did not expect that!
Who knew I was waiting all my life for a show that brought in serial killers, literature and murders based on Edgar Allan Poe?
