BBC News: Richard III dig - Search team uncovers human bones Really trying not to get excited about this. I mean, it's a church, there will surely be loads of people buried there.
However, this body was found in the choir, right where they were hoping/expecting to find Richard's remains. They've found a fully articulated skeleton, with scoliosis (not a hunchback!) and injuries that looks like battle wounds (arrowhead near spine, peri-mortem skull trauma)...it does very strongly suggest that it's Richard.
I hope it's him. I hope they've found him. He's the only English king since the Conquest without a known resting place, and despite what you may or may not think about his legacy and his reputation, he deserves that much at least.
I wonder, if it is him, whether he'll have a state funeral or not. Surely the burial of an English king warrants some kind of ceremonial affair?
This is all so exciting! History unfolding before our very eyes! 500 years of history and it's still reaching out and having an impact today! This is why I love history so very much.
