T-minus four hours!
I get a monkeyscorpion in a few hours! So excited!
I love meeting LJ friends in real life. It's so much fun to actually have a real live person to squee with, you know, actual conversations as opposed to words on a screen.
That said, I think we're all fairly open and honest with one another here on LJ, but there's always that variation, those little differences, between our online persona and the way we are in the Real World™. I always worry that people will be disappointed when they meet me in the flesh, or that we won't get on for some reason, or we'll find that outside of fandom we don't have much in common, or that meeting in reality changes the way we interact online.
You build up a picture of someone in your head based on your relationship online, and sometimes that picture is nothing like reality. And I think it takes a while when you first meet an online friend to square your imagined picture of them with the real person in front of you. It's like 'I know you and yet I don't know you at all'.
