Retrograde Maneuver

Bronchitis at 11,600ft = FAIL. Now that I'm back down at 3000ft, and still can't climb stairs without getting light-headed, I know it wasn't just altitude sickness. But reduced lung capacity + 661mbars of air pressure (66% that at sea level) meant I couldn't sleep, much less walk. So I was miserable for a couple of 'acclimatization' days, then actually enjoyed the last two days waiting for a flight off the mountain. Manang and Humde are beautiful, beautiul places. I even took some star photos from the roof of our hotel this morning!

Thank you Mary for the diamox and cipro! Thanks Neal Stephenson for Cryptonomicon, I read it entirely on the trek (1100 pages) and it kept me sane.

We flew into Pokhara this morning, and we have 6 days to accomplish our goal: relax and recover in paradise. So far, so good.

It's nap time. We found a hotel with an amazing tropical garden, for $7 per night. We are sitting next to a lake surrounded by shady trees. There's almost no traffic, and only the occasional horn (unlike Kathmandu).

It'll do.

paradise, fail, nepal, adventures, win
