My flatmate is moving out soon, and the magic scales of body-fat measuring belong to him. So, I've bought some new ones...
I've mentioned before that I wasn't entirely sure the original set of scales were measuring me hugely accurately, as they only measured through the legs and I've been doing much more work on my upper body (shoulders and upper back mostly). Also, contrary-wise, I have more visible fat on/in my upper body (lower torso mostly), so it could have been off either way really. The new scales address this problem, as they have a hand-held sensor bit and do the inductance measurement through the whole body, from hands to feet.
I was quietly hopeful that this would give me some instant effort-free improvement in my numbers, particularly my muscle mass percentage, and indeed it has. I've just done my first set of side-by-side measurements with the old and new scales*, and here are the results:

So... fastest I've ever lost 2.5% body-fat and gained 6% muscle mass - clearly that was money well spent! :-p
* Yes, I'm intellectually aware that comparing body-composition measurements from two different sets of scales is at best fairly arbitrary and at worst wildly misleading. But as the outcome of doing so has been to make me happy, I'm going to do it anyway. :)
