Moving Along

Time does it's old march along thing. Got my car back from the auto body place -- seemed to take a lot of discussion. Some time ago I had an altercation with a (low and out-of-sight) piping protecting the end of a gas pump. I had wanted them to fix that scrape while they were replacing the rear bumper. The price went from oh, something to fix the one piece to $380 to replace 3 pieces (the other 2 had two little bits of missing paint which I could do myself) (although I never have) to, oh, gee, the part we ordered that was marked as "painted," comes unpainted so add on an extra (are you ready?) TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS to paint it. I said, "No, thanks, I'll live with it." So then they warned me that if I sent the pieces back, there's be a restocking fee.

Could they tell me what it was? No. If the data base gave misinformation, why should I have to pay to send the merchandise back? That's the way it is. I mean, c'mon, they misadvertised, and I should pay for it? I don't think so. Eventually I bothered them enough so they waived the restocking fee.

Also my poor uncle finally passed away. It is sad, but not as sad as him lying there comatose and barely breathing.

Steve is on a gig in New Mexico which is going well. He's got an apartment and is figuring out the car and phone situation. As he says, "We're all migrant workers now."

I had a bunch of other things on my anxiety list, but they've almost all been resolved, and, yes, I am a happier camper for it. Also, my team teacher from many years ago is moving back into the area and will probably live fairly near by. Hooray!
