Mission Accomplished!

Well after 3 and a half hours at Starbucks I finished rewriting my last two scenes. So draft one is gone, and draft two is finished. Now I have to do a grammar edit and style edit and pacing edit and read through... GAH! I'm 88 pages into my grammar book. Oh the the things I've learned! I'm in the common mistakes section and already I am looking at my work with a closer eye. Damn you sentence fragments! Oh I love you so! And you have your place but I will cut down, and commas! Tricky elusive comma usage! I will scrutinize all of them! CUT!!!!

The point is, you don't want your crappy grammar to get in the way of your story! If an editor cant see past your spelling errors and grammar then will they even see if your story is good? Since I've been critiquing other people's work I find myself getting pissed off when i find misspellings or homonyms. It means that the author didn't think it was worthwhile to go back and read their work carefully, or in some cases even run it through a spellchecker and if I'm taking the time to edit their work then they should spend the time to polish it. And the same goes for me! So this is why this damn story will go through the "me" ringer a few more times. Our beta readers are golden, let's not abuse them with crap... okay?

ranting only to myself...

me.
