Sick, but much better.

I fell asleep without turning on the space heater on Wednesday night. This was a mistake, as I cannot sleep breathing chilly air or it will make me congested with phlegm. Well, I awoke at 2 a.m. coughing up. Although I turned on the heater, the next day I felt warm, a slight fever. Yesterday, I was miserable, even my lymph glands hurt, but I had an important meeting at work as well as an audit to conduct. So no calling in sick. I went on in. My breath was so hot that it fogged up my glasses when I blew it upwards. I had to cough up and spit out, and the mucous was green, even tinged with blood. I know what you'll say, "You should have seen a doctor," but this has happened before and I made a full recovery. If lengthy.

Nearly four years ago, I was supposed to perform (sing with a group) at a benefit for the tsunami victims of December 2004. It was on 1/28/05, but I had these same symptoms and did not make the performance. The fever broke the next day, leaving a sore throat and the same green phlegm. When I saw the blood in it, I raced for medical attention. My doctor told me I was not to visit my brother who was sick in the hospital, as I had bronchitis. However, in a way, the worst thing was the runny nose that started. It was of the most ardent tenacity: I had a runny nose until mid-May.

Anyway, I took some ibuprofen last night and the fever went down. So I went on to the Weight Watchers meeting, where I did enroll. I need to get back on track with the weight loss, which has been "out of whack" for some time now. The gave me this nice little get-started kit. I just have to write down everything I eat or drink. You bite it, you write it.

I told myself that I was going to paste myself together and attend ballet class, even if I still felt sick. Even if I had to go there and come directly back home and get in bed. But I didn't feel very bad at all. I did all of the exercises and dances as instructed (or nearly as instructed, some were confusing.)

Then I went to the 1/2 hour singalong in the auditorium, then left and went to the thrift store. Found a nice crockpot (a "smartpot" that can be programmed to various times from 30 mins to 6 hours) for $7.50. Also a designer purse! Up for auction that goes.

Somehow, somewhere, I lost my debit card on Wednesday afternoon. Retracing my steps did no good. I know where the last place was that I used it, but I cannot go back there, as it's kind of far. I hawkeyed my account, and no money had been removed. Believe it or not, this was kind of disappointing, since if money was missing, as least I would know that someone else had the card and I could stop looking for it. (The bank would replace the missing money.) So yesterday, I called and cancelled the card. Now watch it show back up!

Trying to plan a visit to Seattle to see my sister and her family on Thanksgiving. Fares are a bit higher than I thought: ranging from $400 to $500. I can do it for a bit less, but then they want to take you hither, thither and yon. Stretch out a 4 1/2 hour flight to 9 glorious hours. Talk about your scenic routes. One route involved going to Phoenix, or Denver, even ATLANTA! Still another to Vegas: Well, even if it's cheaper, by the time I sit in the airport playing slots for a 2-hour layover, I'll have lost more money than I was supposed to be saving.

We've also got those three unpaid days off coming up from the employer in the next month. Oh, well. If I wanna go, I gots to pay. It's back to eBay. This week's auctions are going well. Looks like a good day tomorrow for auctions ending.
