Bye Bye Bicycle Carrier

What a night. I took the kids out for a sunset picnic while towing them in our two-seater bicycle kid carrier. They felt like a ton of bricks in that thing, and I had to walk up the the hills with them because they are not enough gears for hauling that heavy of a load for me. We finally arrive, eat and enjoy the view. The kids run and play; it's quite picturesque. After dark, we pack up, and I start pedaling home. Halfway home, I'm jolted to a stop because the axle on the carrier busted. Luckily, a kind passerby helps me walk the unrepairable carrier to the nearest dumpster, and the kids and I walk over a mile home in the dark. They are whinny and tired, which normally means they go straight to bed, but they are filthy from playing so a bath is in order. The up side: they will sleep well tonight. I hope they sleep late tomorrow morning, but odds are not good for my little early risers.

Plus side for me: I no longer have to figure out what to do with that bulky bicycle carrier. Storing it was a pain! Now I really have to get the kids to learn to properly ride their own bikes. It's all good in the end.
