Well, I finally did it. Six years into motherhood, and I literally threw a shoe at one of my kids today. It happened immediately after I had warned the targeted child about a certain behavior for which time-out was already being enforced. I was across the room with an assumed distance of safety when the behavior reoccurred. I was carrying my sandals into my room, so I just launched one of my shoes at the misbehaving child. I missed by about 10 feet, but the look of fright in that child's eyes was all I wanted. I ended with a classic hand-on-the-hip-with-other-finger-pointing-at-the-child and the accompanying facial stare, plus the patented, "Didn't I just tell you to stop that?!" Yeap. I rule this kingdom, kiddo. Artillery included.
