[Personality]

Battler is a strange person. He has a fear of riding on boats, constantly thinking that he's going to drown if he boards one.He is deathly afraid of water. It was a habit he got from his mother, Asumu. Whenever she had a bad habit, Battler usually inherited them by watching her. He essentially is comic relief and says things he knows he'll regret later.

However that doesn't stop him from saying obscure lines out of the spur of the moment. He is kind of twisted as he enjoys making disgusting jokes. He won't deny he is a pervert and he'll refer to himself as one at times. He is stubborn to the core. He is also very strong-willed and he won't easily give up on things just because they seem difficult. He's a fun guy and he knows how to play with children. He can get socially awkward around adults. He doesn't force things upon people and he's open to other people's opinions.  Battler is one to cuss when something upsets him greatly. He has zero goals for the future and he's content with his happy-go-lucky life style.

He really despises his father. He often refers to Rudolf as 'Old man' or 'Bastard' and he talks coldly about him all the time. His hatred stems from when Asumu passed away 6 years ago. Rudolf remarried to Kyrie and he hates him for betraying Asumu. He doesn't blame Kyrie for accepting Rudolf but he places all the blame on his father instead. He's rather rebellious and he doesn't listen to parental instruction  He does whatever he likes.

Battler picked up Kyrie's "reverse chess-board like thinking". It is when Battler's mentality shifts and he takes the view of the opponent. It allows him to break through tight situations and see possible solutions that wern't visible from his perspective.  Although it wasn't as strong as Kyrie's since she had invented the concept herself, he still uses it to battle against Beatrice. It allowed him to get through some portions of the game, but it's a technique that has it's flaws. At one point, Battler had to realize that his way of thinking put Beatrice at an advantage. He made his life harder simply because he did not want to put the blame of the Rokkenjima murders on his family members.

He's honest and compassionate despite his twisted outer appearance. He does not jump to conclusions and he thinks things through most of the time. Sometimes he can let his emotions get the better of him, which causes him to break down. He is quick to recover during these times because of his strong will.  A little motivation is usually enough to set him straight again. The catchphrase he uses when he's giving up is "It's useless, it's all useless". He mostly says this when he is depressed, or can't find a way to counter Beatrice.  He often lies to himself, telling himself to stop crying when he's in emotional pain. Battler uses it as a self motivator so he can stand up on his feet again. The fact that it works to him, is because he's stubborn and he likes to believe what he can. His stubborn will and human standpoint is what allows him to attack Beatrice in the first place.

With that being said Battler is rather intelligent. He has a lot of common sense. He cares deeply for his relatives. He would never accuse his relatives of crimes they did not commit. However, because of his big heart he can be an idiot. He never listens to anyone yet he analyzes all the facts to the core. He tries to find flaws in ways of thinking to enhance his ability to think things through. He knows how valuable life is and he understands mourning when the time comes for it. After seeing countless murders, he becomes disgusted at Beatrice but eventually re-acknowledges her as his opponent.

He's fluent in both French and English due to being raised in a family of wealth. He's a goof since he tends to use his french for extremely cliche lines. Battler is rarely serious but when he does get serious it's something to be feared. He doesn't take anything that offends him lightly.  When he isn't fighting Beato, he's extremely happy and aloof. His optimistic attitude usually gets himself into trouble. He works best under pressure and he's a thinker, solving the witches closed rooms.

Battler can't bring himself to be polite around women because that isn't his nature. He's aware that he's a cruel person and he wants to be truthful to his own feelings.  Even if he does get physically/verbally abused often, he's a nice guy.

In episode 5 he manages to solve all the witches riddles and killed her by denial. He then realizes that he enjoyed testing his twits against someone cruel. He really did like Beatrice's game and he wanted to play with her again. He became infatuated with Beatrice and searched for a way to revive her. He loves her and he only wishes to be by her side again.

[Abilities]
» When he speaks of his human theories they will be said in blue text.
» High magic resistance. In canon regular magic spells dissipate when they come into contact with him. He won't die by magic spells, but since it requires a downgrade-- Fatal spells are still fatal but he will still be immune to common spells such as fire bolts or lightning bolts.
[Other important stuff]
IT'S ALL USELESSSSSSSSS

[Sample post]
[First Person]

My name's Battler Ushiromiya. I'm 18 years old and I've got absolutely no goals for the future. I guess you could say I'm a happy go lucky guy. My family's damn rich so I don't really have to worry about financial stuff. It's all taken care of by my Grandfather. It's not as if I choose to be born in a rich family. I'm aware that there are people less fortunate than us. From their perspective, they would assume that we're selfish people but that isn't the case. We're simple and modest people with a lot of wealth. That's the only real difference between us and then. It isn't a matter of ownership in the long run. If a lot more people could think this way I wonder if perhaps less people would argue over trivial stuff like this.

[Third Person]

Just a second ago, Battler was trying to revive Beatrice. He had won the game and took the position of game master. He understood the mechanics and logic of the board, however he lacked something. Beatrice, he wanted to see her smile again. He loved her. It took him a while to notice that he actually enjoyed bickering with her. Pulling out all the stops and coming up with more and more theories. She was as cruel as him. He didn't have to hold back, it was unnecessary.

Being thrown into a random location was the least of his worries. His top priorities were finding a way to meet Beatrice again. Battler studied occult magic so that he could find a way to revive her. In the end his experiments were a failure. He couldn't revive her. After all nothing could re create the wonderful person he met in the past. He became much like his deceased grandfather. Kinzo and Battler both played the witches game and fell in love with her. Is it the witches magic?  "Beato...This isn't funny. Come on...why don't you insult me like you usually do? What happened to your inelegant exposition? And your smile? Beato.."

He called out to the sky and hoped that Beatrice would notice him. Two people are needed to play a game and without her he was nothing. "Beato, I love you." They were his true feelings. He wanted them to be real. "Sorry, I'm incompetent like you said. So why don't you come out and tell me how bad I am?"
