He couldn't remember
Nightmare leaving. He couldn't remember heading back to his room. Once inside the four walls of his quarters, Zero fell to his knees in front of the doorway.
'I'll wait for you. You better come back!'
His body curled forward and Zero began to feel like something was choking him. Both hands moving to grab at his neck and eventually to rest against his chest. His breathing was more like gasping. Choking. Sobbing. He was unable to control his body. He couldn't speak. Only think.
'Why couldn't you have waited longer? Just a little longer? Did you think that was me? What Gate created? What he revived? What? Is that why you left?'
His breathing became too much. Zero's body jerked forward and his hands planted against the floor to keep himself from toppling over.
He began coughing and his head began to feel light. All those questions fading away until everything grew calm.
Breathing returned to normal. He could even speak again.
"Idiot." Slowly Zero lifted himself off of the floor and headed to his capsule. Always speaking to X out loud. Never caring if someone else heard him, that X couldn't hear him.
"If you think that, you are. But,"
Zero stopped as he was getting inside.
'What would I think if it were me instead of you?' A sigh slipped free as Zero climbed inside and laid down, 'I can't blame you. You probably feel the way I do.'
A pained smile flashed on his face. Zero left the capsule open and stared at nothing in particular.
The sun moved up into the sky and Zero hadn't moved from his position. Instead he closed his eyes finally and decided to just stay in for the day.
