American Beauty moment...

So I was just sitting here on my couch, minding my own business, when a few moments ago a plastic bag wafted by outside my window. It gently lifted up into view, twirled a few times, and then disappeared off to the left.

It was quite lovely to watch: very American Beauty.

Except I live on the tenth freakin' floor. That's...quite the air current ( Read more... )

Thanks :) Interesting, how Garfield panels taken totally out of context are so much funnier than the actual strip.

sometimes i see them flying up from the market against the backdrop of the city skyscrapers, and it is strangely beautiful.

It is, innit? I mean, they're plastic bags: they're garbage and environmentally destructive on several levels and a symbol of our hyper-consumerist culture...and yet, there really is a sort of grace to their being danced about in the air...

Amusing story: A couple of years ago I was walking among some high-rise condos, when I heard something hit the ground behind me. I couldn't quite place the sound, so I turned around and discovered an empty toilet paper roll. I looked up, and there was massively long ribbon of toilet paper twisting in the wind high above the street. Someone must have dropped practically a full roll out of a window. It was hilarious and entrancing at the same time...

No, rilly?? Cos this same thing happened to me at Charles and Bay a decade ago. I was entranced - I must have watched for 15 minutes!

It's very blowy out there - wet now too.

I love it when the streets are wet and the lights shine off them in the dark, and if it's windy too there's a weird sort of extra life to it all - it's hard to explain - everything's moving and shining and dancing and glowing.

Even so you are still happy to go inside to warm lights and a tasty dinner.

*general undirected love*

Yikes... And yes, that's quite the air current. It was rather windy out this afternoon.

That's interesting that it got all the way up to the tenth floor.
