No, wait. I'm definitely crazy. That's not the question I'm meaning to ask. The question is: should I visit Australia in September?
Honestly, I had a blast at coffee with
flawedamythyst when she was travelling through last month, and loved getting to know
trinity1986 as she stayed here last week, so I'm feeling very pro-travel-and-meeting-fen in general. And then Nix was being all sweet and enthusiastic about visiting, and DAMMIT I've been wanting to meet my wacky Aussie flisters for the better part of a year now anyway, so I checked my travel fund just for kicks...and was rather shocked to discover that I can afford it. (Barely. New Zealand as well is definitely out. :( )
Of course, this means I could go to WinCon instead, and just keep saving the rest. But honestly? I don't really want to go to WinCon. I find conventions rather dizzying and overwhelming, and would far rather spend more time and money to see the specific people I really want to visit, rather than seeing them fleetingly as they try to fit me in with everyone else they're seeing for the first time - and vice versa. You know?
I'm thinking (since, y'know, NOON, when I first came up with this crazy plan) Sydney, Melbourne, and somewhere-in-the-middle (I've always wanted to see Uluru). And it would need to be sometime between August 25th-ish and the end of September, because that's the only time I can take two-and-a-half weeks off. (I'm saving a few days to recover from jetlag. :P And I have Ottawa plans, too.)
So,
nixwilliams,
missyjack,
merihn,
tvm and
lemmealone, what do you think? What do the rest of you think?
