what could possibly be on anyone's mind?

so y'all, that election SUCKED. I have lost faith in America and our democracy, and am looking forward to seeing the USA suffer the consequences. except it will probably be more along the lines of other people suffering because of the majority decision. anyways, we made it through 4 years, what's 4 more? (i'm lacking in cynicism today.)

but, i do think the popular vote wasnt really the truth, due to the electoral college-if you are in a set "red" or "blue" state, voting lacks as much importance. and notice how so many of the bush states went with at least 60% of the vote. that tells me that dems didnt bother voting there, and that republicans are too ignorant to figure out that their vote really doesn't matter all that much. But this electoral college, its gotta go. its a hinderance to our democracy. campaign attention is diverted to specific states, and republicans benefit from all the unpopulated states. some have told me that turning it into a popular vote would just result in campaigning only in big cities, but that seems like a much better alternative that campaigning only in swing states. basically, i just want my vote to matter when i finally get to vote, being it that i live in maryland.
(total electoral votes per state = house members [pop.repped] + senate members [equal for every state, no matter size]...notice the inequality going on there?)

i am pleased that at least this year the popular vote winner also took the electoral, meaning we still barely grasp some form of proper democracy in america. taking comparative politics has led to obvious better alternatives in my mind.

so currently i'm feeling pretty apathetic, and then also fairly fascist, since honestly, the majority is a bunch of idiots. politics feels pointless.

aight, chill.
