The Collapsing Giraffe Problem: Solved! (and web access list)

Jul 07, 2010 23:35

You know that freakin' giraffe that many of our stores are hosting in the kids department? Its legs quickly bent, causing it to fall over more readily than a drunken stiltwalker in an earthquake.

But I think I found an elegant (not elephant) solution to how to keep it from falling over and being dragged across the floor by gleeful or vicious micro-customers: http://yfrog.com/6zc4grj

(Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to paste photos into LJ, but hopefully someone can in a comment.)

The legs turn out to be pretty springy and to clamp on pretty well. Which suggests that it might be a good thing that we didn't get two of them, or they might be too easily positioned in inappropriate ways.

Unrelatedly, while I have your ear: Bookmark recently recommended that we add sites to the "my links" area that we can get at. For example, I know that we can get at http://en.wikipedia.org/ from the Internet tab. Bookmark claims that there is an approved site list somewhere, yet going through official channels, no one can seem to find it. Does anyone here know if it is on Bookmark or elsewhere, and how we might get at it? If that's considered secret corporate info, I would not want it replicated here, but a pointer to it on the intranet would be great.
