a typical "Kristen moment"

Yeah, so today I had one of those not-rare-enough moments where I made what seemed like a small decision without being very consequence-minded, and hillarity ensued.

So, like, everyone around me has the plague or something. I'm either crawling with the virus or whatever it is and am miraculously immune or I'm just really lucky not to have caught it yet. (Yes, I just knocked on wood.) My stepdad is the latest person around me to get sick, and so I've been taking Airborne today in hopes of not catching it. And, well, Airborne is not exactly tasty. And one other important thing you need to know about it is that it's a lot like alka selter. You're supposed to mix it with water. It gets fizzy. This is important later in the story.

I had what was the last of my mom's lemon-lime flavored this morning. While we were out running errands later this afternoon, I was thirsty and went into Publix and bought an orange soda and a thing of the orange-flavored Airborne and then went to sit in the car while my mom finished shopping. My intention was to mix the orange-flavored Airborne into my Diet Sunkist. And yes, the aformentioned decision made without much consideration of consequences was to mix them in the car.

Have you seen what happens when you put mentos in diet coke? It wasn't quite like that, but there was definitely a two-inch geyser.

On the bright side,
1. I was able to entertain myself for the rest of my wait by cleaning up the mess I'd made.
2. The Airborne/Diet Sunkist concoction that was still left in the bottle after the erruption was quite tasty.
