Yeah, so last night I had this wacky dream. Now, normally I'm pretty much a lucid dreamer -- I'm always pretty aware in the back of my consciousness that it's just a dream. For this reason I don't mind "scary" dreams with monsters and zombies and stuff. I actually kind of like those, cause I love horror movies, and it's like, "I'm getting to live a horror movie while I sleep! Awesome!"
(Note -- as is typical, for me at least, I have to generalize most of this because I usually can't remember the details of my dreams too well.)
In the dream, one of my friends had done something that was good (I don't remember what), but this action had pissed off some random group of bad guys (again, not sure who exactly they were supposed to be). Friend was hiding and I was trying to help him hide, but I got caught and they were trying to get me to tell where he is, upon threat of death (being shot in the head -- I remember this pretty well). I refuse to tell, and so I'm about to be killed. Like, gun aimed at my head and everything.
And that's when I woke up.
Two weird things about this. First, I had NO IDEA I was dreaming until I woke up. Seriously, I woke up, and was surpised to find out it had been a dream. I don't get surprised like that very often, especially with these more outlandish types of dreams. Maybe not so much with the "My seminar paper is due today and I haven't started it yet" type dreams.
But the second weird thing is this: I wouldn't call it so much a bad dream. When I was experiencing it, I seriously thought I was about to die, but was relatively calm about it. Sort of, "Oh, well, hope it's quick. Wonder what the afterlife will be like." I think we sometimes wonder how we would respond to facing death, and in that I really thought it was real when I was dreaming it, I feel like this would probably be my reaction in real life to facing death. And the fact that I was as okay with it as I was is heartening.
Well, I think that was really the only place I was going with this. Thanks for humoring me.
You all already knew I was weird anyway.
