Say things that nobody can understand

It seems like all of my subject lines are song lyrics-well, not all of them, but a good number. And most of them make no damn sense at all, except to me. Mind you, I'm not going to stop doing it, I just point it out, probably because I'm in a mood. It'd hardly surprising that I'm in a mood on a lonely Sunday, when I have nothing to do and no motivation to do anything. I wrote a couple of pages for a story, but as Claudius said of his son Drusillus, "I don't like them. I think they're horrid." I'll probably keep them anyway, because I'm lazy.

I'm also in a mood because we're rapidly running out of 2007, here, and I don't think I'm ready to deal with 2008. The end of the year always makes me pensive and melancholy, as I expect it does many people, because it's a time for reflecting and taking stock, and well that's no fucking fun now, is it? Besides, I'll probably talk about some of that stuff in a post on New Years' Day.

In the meantime, there was a very interesting post on a friend's LJ about for lack of a better phrase, "hating the playa and not the game." In other words, it's about women, and adjusting strategies for getting to know them. This would probably be a good idea for me, given than what I shall laughably refer to as my technique is not very successful.

But I tend to react very negatively to the idea of employing any "strategy" where women are involved. I hate the game as much as the playa. I'm just so damn... me that I find it hard to change, and I don't generally do first impressions well. Later impressions I'm pretty good at, and a number of my friends would agree with me on that, but first impressions (even First Impressions Part II), not so much.

I really don't have any insights beyond, "Looks like for 2008, Dennis will continue to be a dumbass." But then I guess that's what you do when you're in a mood: you (or at least I) maunder on without saying anything really useful. Oh well. Here's to a more cheerful blog post on New Years' Day. Hope everyone enjoys the festivities tomorrow, too.
