It seems to be that time of year again. No, not that one. The other one. The one where you get rid of a whole life's worth of stuff because you're moving across the country. Yup. Moving back to CA. Thank you little lord baby jesus with his lil halo. No more Texas, no more horrid weather, no more COCKROACHES!, no more working at a crap store. Unfortunately, these wonderful things come with a price. A cleaning price.l Oh god, the amount of stuff that I have moved in the past two days has been horrible!
I got rid of 5 cardboard boxes, 4 blue plastic tubs, 3 giant pillows, 2 chairs, and 1 busted vacuum cleaner. Among other things. All of it is currently sitting at the foot of my driveway, waiting for charity pickup. Of course, given the amount of stuff that I had piled out there - people felt compelled to stop and rifle through things. It got so bad that I put up a sign that said, "If you take anything from this pile, you are stealing from charity!" It didn't help much. Well, aside from the crazy black lady.
She decided that she would 'take' from the pile. Well, karma bit her in the ass, because when she closed her trunk after taking stuff from the curb, she locked her keys in the trunk! Well, of course, this meant that the dumb ass was parked in front of my house for two hours waiting for the pop-a-lock guy to show. She even had the nerve to come up and ask to use the bathroom and my phone. I let her use the bathroom, but I drew the line at my cell phone. It's not like she didn't have one herself! Well, the lock guy finally came and unlocked her trunk, so she put all the stuff she took back and drove off preaching about Jesus or something. Whatever. She caused quite a traffic jam for a while there.
Of course, now it's raining out, and everything is wet. And the children's shelter still hasn't come to pick this stuff up. Boo.
I still haven't finished shopping for Christmas. It's horrible. I'm thinking that some people may have to wait until after Christmas to get their gifts. I'm just burned out. I managed to send my mom her package and cookies - but that's about it. My dad's gifts are sitting on my bookshelf, and I never did buy anything for my in-laws. Oh well - we didn't get them anything last year either - why would we start now?
I have two ladies from work coming by this week to buy my entertainment center and bookshelf. Hopefully I can sell my recliner, dresser, bedroom set and some other various crap as well. I need the money and less stuff to move! Of course, I'm keeping my couch. Since I just bought it last month. I would hate to get rid of it in anycase - it's horribly comfortable. Oh, and the desk is coming as well as my antique shelf. Other than that, it can all just go away. :-p
I guess that's it for right now. The dishes are being washed, my cookie pans are drying, and I should probably go to half price books and drop off the stuff I want to get rid of. Talk to you all later.
