Etherlords

Yay...a beautifully executed strategy game in teh Heroes of Might and Magic vein. Now, I HATED HOMM3 (too, too much crap going on at one time) since it felt like it offered little more than its prequels yet was much more complex for no reason. However, Etherlords doesn't suffer like the Heroes series. There are the usual resources, heroes, castles, and items, but they are all brought together in a simple way, and the new global spells and combat system that plays like a streamlined version of my favorite collectible card game of all time (without the mana screw!!) and four factions that all play VERY differently make this game very fun. The one thing is, is without the accelerated time/reduced animations active, even simple missions take hours. The "life" side's third mission took about an hour and a half, and much of that time was learning the most efficient way to play the 2nd faction you're given as opposed to the 1st. If engaging strategy gaming is your thing, check out Etherlords. You'll not regret it, I think.
