link Landmark study: DRM truly does make pirates out of us all
A UK researcher has spent years interviewing people about whether DRM has affected their ability to use content in ways ordinarily protected by the law. Surprise! It has, even leading one sight-impaired woman to piracy.
we all be pirates yarrrrr!!
well not really, no crime has been committed on the high seas but still in order to do anything cool with digital media you need to brake the DRM on it, and for some people they buy the item then download it because it's easer to deal with and there is the poor student/wage slave that can afford the items, and last the guy that doesn't want to pay for anything so he doesn't(it could be a she as well)
there is a lot of people that download older games that is technically illegal, but they fall under a gray area, IMO anything thats 5 or more years out of service should be public domain, that and there are some grate games that no one would play because they can't be found, or where limited release and now go for a lot so most people cant afford it
i think that some copy protection is OK and some companies have a good one going for them
stardock for one has a really good system, they don't try to control the CD's they control the updates and access to the community, and they do a good job at it, i got a e-mail awhile back saying that i had dubbed account with them and they merged them how nice is that, and they have a really good customer service that is what counts theas days
well excuse all typos and spelling/grammar error, spell check can only catch so many
