She was there...

I just woke up from a dream where I had a chance encounter with my true love.

I was riding in someone's back seat going somewhere... and suddenly she was at my side, holding me close.

The thing is, when I looked at her face, all I saw was a blurred image of colors and hues, her hair changing from dark black, to red, to blond, and everything in between. Even her eyes were nothing but a dynamic display of color, and I was fixed on them.

I said nothing. I turned and we held each other. I felt her there, felt her warmth and her presence and it was everything I'd ever desired. I had the feeling of never wanting to wake up again; let me die here in my sleep and let me dream this sweet dream for the rest of eternity.

A moment in time with her is all I gained. The next instant, she was gone and I was somewhere else entirely. Even then, I still thought of her.

Although neither of us said a word, after she left there was a word in my mind. "Madeleine." I can't help but wonder if that's her name.

It was a sweet dream. The sweetest I've had in a while. Still, I hate it. I hate waking up and realizing that it was nothing but a dream and that there's no one beside me to prove me wrong. There's only the aching bite of my usual bedmates, loneliness and the bitter cold.

And right now, I can't feel the cold for the loneliness.
