Dude! You should come to the Unitarian Church! Or the liberal/egalitarian/queer-positive synagogue I go to, even though you probably have no Jewish background. :P
how about not going to church, meeting them for brunch, and then tagging along with whatever they do after that? (i'm guessing they go home and "rest their eyes" in front of the tv. personal experience.)
I wish there was some sort of secular church. I like the idea of pausing once a week to reflect and rededicate yourself to what matters and all that, but I'm not into the God thing. Sometime yoga class does it for me, but that's a lot more about making a physical effort.
I know there are atheist groups and whatnot, but I feel like they sit around trying to sound intelligent and arguing about things.
You know what appeals to me? The Quaker service, where you sit in silence. (There may be more to it than that; I'm getting my information from Six Feet Under here.)
