Thanksgiving was as dull as it usually is...we had dinner at Aunt Al's with Grandma and Cousin Janny. The food was good, and Janny had her jack russell terrior, Smidge, with her. I spent most of the evening reading the Canterbury Tales for homework and wondering when we were going to go home. I dunno, I've never been big on Thanksgiving...when I was little, it meant going over to Grandma Ward's but ever since she was moved into the assisted living place (and has since passed on...bless her soul) we've had dinner at Grandma's, our place, and now Aunt Al's. And every single one has involved the Hoover clan, which makes it into more of an informal, awkward state to me than it does a family dinner.
I suppose some explanation of the Hoovers is necessary. See, my Grandma's older sister Albertine (you can't make names like that up, folks), who I was raised to address as "Aunt Al" even though she's technically my great aunt, married a man named Jack Hoover (Uncle Jack, a navy veteran who has also passed away just a year or two back after going slowly downhill towards dementia, poor guy). They had four kids, named (and now we get to the part that confuses all of the people I explain this to) Jackie, Janny, Jim, and Jerry. Jackie works with the metroparks and has horses and her dog, and is married to a guy named Jack. Jerry is married to Laurie and has three sons, Jason (in college), Ryan (high school senior), and Aaron (still a little kid). Jim is married to Denise, and has two kids, a son named Tim (working with the DA in Tiffin) and a daughter named Rachel (in my grade, and some of my classes, but she hardly talks to me...a throwback to junior high when I purposely made a point out of embarassing her by letting people know we were cousins, since she had the social rank of "Queen" while I was trailing somewhere along the lines of "Leper"). Jackie's husband I don't ever recall meeting; I think they're seperated, but she has two kids named Travis and Jesse. In any case, it all adds up to a whole lotta family that I never really got attached to since I never saw them at any given point during my childhood save Christmas Eve and Christmas Dinner, and the occasional Baptism or First Communion.
Well, in any case, that's all up that's up in RL...
In other news, I played my Sims2 game a bunch the other day. I was in a diffrent neighborhood than I had been before, and I was playing with the Curious family. That's three brothers who are all into science and stuff...they really like to stargaze through their telescopes. Which, in the worls of the sims, can be dangerous...because you could get abducted my aliens. And if your sim gets upducted, they could wind up preganant with an alien baby...even the male ones. Sure enough, turns out the one brother had already gotten abducted before I started playing with them and was in the final stages. Then as I was playing his younger brother got abducted as well. He was returned by the aliens shortly after, but then the pregnant brother went into labor on the front lawn and gave birth to a lovely girl, who I named Astra.
The abducted brother was pregant with alien babies too, so he got progressivly bigger, much to my amusement. The brother who had given birth the alien girl had a male friend, so I made them fall in love. The boyfriend moved in and they got engaged. Meanwhile, Astra had become a toddler, and the only brother who hadn't been impregnated by alien spawn got himself a girlfriend. The pregant brother gave birth to twin baby boys, who I named Castor and Pollux (heh heh). Then the other brother got engaged to his girlfriend. As soon as the babies all reach child stage, I'm going to get both couples married and then have the one brother with Astra and his boyfriend move out into another house, because its getting crowded in there.
I also moved a new family in just down the street that I created myself. The Bride family...which is comprised of three sisters named Marishka, Aleera, and Verona. I'm probably going to Hell for this, but who cares? I'm having a blast ^_^
On another Van Helsing note, I'm now the new Marishka for the
van_helsingrpg RPG community...I made a new journal for that which can be found at
milady_marishka. Whee, this is gonna be fun...
