There is going to be a spin-off series to 'Avatar: The Last Airbender', starting next year.
You know what, I was in a really bad mood and had a lot of lousy stuff going on, but screw that noise. This turns my entire day around.
The entire interview with the creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, is pretty much aces and cake, and has me really excited for 'Korra' (working title only), but given the tone of my flist, one quote that stood out to me in particular:
"We just don’t subscribe to the conventional wisdom that you can’t have an action series led by a female character. It’s kinda nonsense to us."
Between that, and the fact that it's my understanding that they're aware of fandom and shipping and respond to it with a well-reasoned mixture of taking it as a sign of respect and "LOL internets" that it deserves, these guys are like my favorite creators ever. Continue doing everything right, gentlemen. Just, yes.
