Godammit, Lost! Stop making me interested again!
Watching last week's episode with the Pop-Up Video mode was kind of annoying and distracting, but at least I'm all caught up again. Once again, Hurley had great lines, and thanks a lot Jack's dad...dy issues. (Actually, I thought the sideways plotline of him having a son was sort of neat.) And I love how even death is not cramping Jacob's crazy puppetmaster style. Oh Jacob. I'm starting to understand why people (put Rube Goldberg-esque Machivellian mechinations into place to) incite other people to kill you.
I realize I probably shouldn't be okay with Sayid going all Heart of Darkness, but he just does it so well. Rocks it like he rocks those black tank-tops. And wetness. Rrrow.
Oh god, I so loved in the flash-sideways, when gangster Keamy (surprise guest appearance by the psycho dick from the freighter!) had Sayid at his place and it was so many flavors of, "Dude, you have no idea who you're messing with." I was practically bouncing on the edge of my seat, waiting for the inevitable conclusion to that one.
Actually, though, I think my favorite part of this week was when Ben came looking for Sayid, and then ended up just backing away slowly with the freak-out eyes while Sayid rocked the crazy slasher smile. That was awesome. (It reminded me a lot of that part in Battlestar Galactica, where they find Kara's body, and Leoben is like "Okay, this is too crazy even for me".)
Sort of like how I think I actually like Crazy!Claire. The actress is just doing such a good job with it. It's just all in the delivery, how she says these things with something like old Claire's sweet matter of factness, and the end result totally ends up in the Uncanny Valley of "something about this isn't riiiight". Like how she talked about having to dig the bullet out of herself, or when she calmly replied that she "wasn't alone" out there. Or, no - the best part when was when NotLocke showed up, and Claire said "That isn't Locke", with such a casual "Oh, you're so silly" kind of near-impatience in her tone. And Jin pretty much spoke for all of us with his expression, which was all "WTF??"
Oh, and in the second episode, that look on her face when Kate says she has Aaron? You would think Claire couldn't possibly be scary. You would be really, really wrong.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I actually liked Dogen. I wish they hadn't killed him off. Loved that fight scene with him and Sayid, though. Daaayum.
