Gotta Crawl Before You Can Walk

Senior Crawl '09: me making friends with strangers for about five hours straight, plus excessive amounts of alcohol.

I started up at Dick's Den at a little bit before 9:00, and ended up all the way down at McFadden's Pub by a little bit after two. Obviously, I didn't stop in every bar - I skipped a lot of the side quests streets and stuck mainly to the big attractions.

Of the two people I knew who were going, one of them had already started and the other one wasn't starting until later. So I went it alone, which isn't really as weird as you might think since everyone had gotten into that "we're all in this together" group mentality. It's sort of like a rock concert - you know everyone's there for the same reason, so it doesn't feel awkward when you randomly start a conversation or wind up doing shots and taking pictures with someone you never met before that night.
I ran into people I actually knew a couple of times any way. And even when I was alone I enjoyed the social atmosphere wherever I was.

I was too lazy to get a white shirt just for the occasion, so I used one of those oversize t-shirts they give away around campus sometimes. I think this was from Involvement Fair this year. It had the OIT logo on the front or something.
I felt kind of lame going to bars wearing this dorky oversize t-shirt, so to balance it out I also had on high-heeled boots, shorts and fishnet pantyhose. I got a couple of "nice boots" comments throughout the night ;)

At every place I stopped at, I'd nicely ask somebody to write the name of whatever drink it was I'd just had on my shirt. I also got signed a couple of times as well. (At one point when I was hanging out with Brittany, some guy behind her started writing on the back of her shirt and I half-interestedly went, "Do you know that guy?" And she very cheerfully replied, "Nope!" That would about sum up the mood of the evening.)

I also made a point to try and have something different each time. I also paced myself though, before you start cringing, and I didn't mix anything too crazy. Mostly I stuck to the clear liquor family. I also was going to try and switch to just beer after about halfway, but that ended up not happening...but I didn't get sick, I didn't pass out, and I will have you know I do in fact remember everything that happened last night. I also made it home to my own bed safe and sound, which I happen to know for a fact not everyone can say.
I probably would have a harder time reconstructing exactly what was consumed and where, though, but luckily I have my shirt for that.

DRINKS HAD (list not in chronological order): 12
- Cherry Bomb
- Grape Bomb
- Tequila shot
- Sam Adams Summer Ale
- Pop My Cherry (posted as a shot special at the first place I went - I asked the bartender what this was and got "Cherry vodka and...something. It's good, though." Me: "Okay!")
- Smirnoff Ice, Original
- Twisted Margarita
- Guinness
- Red-Headed Slut (x2)
- Appletini
- Blue Moon

DRINKS NOT COMPLETELY FINISHED: 3
The Appletini was terrible, I didn't quite drain the second Red-Headed Slut completely, and the Guinness was the last thing I had overall, so you can imagine that when the lights came on and they started herding us towards the door I quite happily left my mostly-full cup behind.

BARS VISITED: 10 (actually twelve, but at two of them I didn't drink)

WRISTBANDS: 1

HAND-MARKS: 1

BATHROOM TRIPS: 4

GLOWSTICKS: 1 (blue necklace, given away at Sloppy Donkey)

NUMBER OF STRANGERS ETHUSIASTICALLY SUNG ALONG TO MUSIC WITH: 2
Lady GaGa's "Poker Face" with some girl while we were both waiting at the bar at Sloppy Donkey, and "American Pie" with these two guys at McFadden's.
This is not counting all the times "Hang On Sloopy" was playing and everyone in the room broke out into a very loud "O! H! I! O!" (often with accompanying arm motions) during the chorus, btw; if it was, the number would go up by at least three.

FOOD CONSUMED:
12 honey BBQ wings at Buffalo Wild Wings; dinner, and what I tenatively considered my halfway point
2 chocolate custard cream donuts at Buckeye Donuts (and one orange juice), when I decided I needed to "just sit" for awhile

MONEY SPENT: about $60, including dinner

DRUNK DIALS: 1
While I was taking a break at Buckeye Donuts, I apparantly figured it'd be a great time to call machi_neko.
Amusingly, the first thing she said upon picking up was, in a perfecly blase voice, "Corinne, you're drunk-dialing me, aren't you?" I guess she'd seen my Facebook status about planning on celebrating heavy that night and considering it was after midnight she put two and two together. (eliara, I totally would've called you too, but I figured you might have work in the morning and wouldn't appreciate it.)

I was home and in bed by three...up for work by 9:30. Whoopie. I only had to work for about two hours, though, since at one in the afternoon was graduation rehersal.

There were definitely some people there still wearing their Senior Crawl shirts from the night before. And I doubt it was in a showing of solidarity, either. One guy had a huge streak of dirt down his arm, like he just faceplanted at some point and possibly stayed down there.

I wouldn't call what I'm feeling "hungover", exactly, because I'm not really hurting...just very tired, and out of sorts. I feel like everything about me is moving really slow, and my stomach's a little touchy. I'm trying to drink lots of fluids and sit around a lot.

good times, drinking, money, college, goodbye, fun, idk my bff laur, friends
