Zounds! Splinters! And Other Strange Profanities, As Well

(And of course now, it's hot again. Eff you too, weather.)

Sheriff Perren, my Faire character's brother and the leader of the village, aka the main heroic lead, aka Steve, has been choreographing and practicing fights all year long with this wooden shield he bought at the Ohio Renaissance Faire. The people who sold it to him swore it was stage combat ready.

Well, it turns out, not so much. Not only did a sizable chunk break off of it the other day during a practice, today when the four of us were just beginning to run through the final fight some more (it really needs it, and did I mention Faire is this Saturday?) Rob gave it a not too hearty whack and it broke apart even further. To the point where it's now pretty much unusable.

Uh. Huh. So...yeah.

Thank god for the Guildie network. Amanda R made, like, three phone calls, and found someone who could lend Steve an actual combat-worthy shield to use tonight. They had to drive down to Grove City, but, whatever.

Of course, that meant no practice for us tonight. Ugh.

And I stayed up late, didn't do a paper and am going to be turning it in two days late.
Also, I've got a midterm tomorrow. Eh, I'll start studying in a bit.

guild, oops, real life, procrastination, bad news
