Take Your Pineapple to Class Day

Apr 10, 2008 00:47

When I went to get lunch at Marketplace today and was waiting for my sandwich, I decided on a total whim to use up another meal swipe to buy some groceries.
And by groceries, I mean a single piece of fruit.

Notably, a single pineapple.
Of course, I was afraid if I put the pineapple in my backpack it might get squished or otherwise messy, so I wound up walking around campus for about half an hour with a pineapple in my hand. And having a pineapple sitting on my desk in Spanish class. And riding the bus back to my apartment with a pineapple on my lap.

It was a nice day and there were a lot of people out. I kept seeing people looking, but it was one of those things where no one ever seems to want to ask.

(Or who knows: maybe it was the Zombie Survival Guide I was reading that they were too afraid to comment on.)

Anyway, I got back to the apartment, I put the pineapple on the kitchen counter, I went to play on the computer. Eventually, my roommate returns.

HER: Why do we have a pineapple?
ME: Oh, I just felt like getting it.
HER: Ah.
ME: ...yup.
HER: Well, we better eat it soon. They don't keep for very long.
ME: Okay. Um...say, do you know how to core a pineapple?
HER: Not without a pineapple corer.

The moral of this story is that googling the phrase "pineapple coring how to" is far more effective than you may at first think.

Also, fresh pineapple is tasty.
