Anybody notice how Matchbox Twenty's "How Far We've Come" has apparantly become, like, the song for the end of the year? I keep seeing it all sorts of montages (it was in the Big Damn SciFi Channel promo for next year's season, for example).
So, my holiday season went pretty great. Didn't have to spend too much time with annoying relatives and got acquainted with Cousin Elise's adorable new Border Terrier puppy, Lucy. Everyone liked their presents, or so it seemed. Dad got eleven pounds of boxed chocolates as gifts to the family from various venders, per usual (the pound of Godiva somehow remained unopened, and is apparantly going back to the apartment with me. SCORE).
It was a Firefly Christmas for me this year, as I not only got a hardcover bound edition of Those Left Behind (finished reading it Christmas Day) but also the 2-disc collecter's edition of Serenity, which is in a totally rad kickass box, by the way. So much better than the lameass cover on the old DVD. I've already rewatched all the movie and all the special features.
I also got the House season 3 DVD set, a t-shirt I wanted ("Everyone Loves An Irish Girl") and a crapload of books. The next in the Gossip Girl series (finished it), the final volume in Atwater-Rhodes' Kiesha'ra series, Wyvernhail (finished), the third part of the Uglies Trilogy (finished), Wicked (started), Stephanie Meyer's Twilight, and The Zombie Survival Guide.
cm_priest will probably also be know I'm doing my part to help keep Spainy-cat fed, as I am now the proud owner of both Not Flesh Nor Feathers and Dreadful Skin. This should easily tide me over until the end of winter quarter.
I've pretty much done nothing all break except hang with my friends, buy random clothes on random mall outings, and get myself set on a truly funktastic sleeping schedule (4Am to 1PM, most days). I've also seen all of the movies I wanted to see this season, by some miracle. In addition to covering Sweeney Todd with
machi_neko, as previously posted, I've also seen National Treasure with
eliara...never did get to see Golden Compass though. Maybe I'll find someone to go with back at school.
I also saw Atonement and Juno with my mother. The first of those, by the way, has the most amazing cinematography I think I've ever seen, a fantastic score, and a beautiful story portayed by perfect acting. It is also overwhelmingly, gut-wrenchingly sad, in a way I can't really explain without giving away the story. Juno on the other hand, is what I'm now thinking of as this year's Little Miss Sunshine...really funny and off-the-wall, yet charming in a true to life, sweet sort of way.
But, yeah, so. That's how the end of my year went. I hope all of yours were more exciting, or at least good and happy.
Last post from the Cleveland homefront, no doubt, as classes start the third so I have to be back on the second. I have no idea how I'm going to pack all the crap I've accumulated over the holiday and would like to take. This should be an adventure.
Girls are coming over tonight for my Not-Really-A-Party-I-Swear New Year's party, so I'm gonna run off and shower real quick. Stay safe and have some fun tonight, you guys! I know I'll at least be trying.
See you in 2008! Hope this year goes even better than the last.
