Over winter break, I went to see The Illusionist with my mom and dad at the dollar show (I had already seen it, they hadn't). And one of the previews that played before it was for One Night with the KingNow up until ( Read more... )

Heh. I'm sure if I paid any sort of attention to the Old Testament at all in bible school, I might have had more of a reaction to that. As it was, I only recognized Esther by name alone, and I pretty much went into this movie, knowing he was in it, as:

"Wonder if he'll be a good guy or a bad guy?"
*Haman shows up, wearing all black and ranting about killing Jews*
"Ah, I see. Bad guy it is."

Oh, yeah. Big tip-offs, there. Ohhhh Hollywood...

I was thinking of these Jewish cookies, hamantaschen, that are shaped like triangles with fruit or chocolate inside and are generally served on Purim (a.k.a. the Jewish yay-Esther-didn't-sell-out Holiday). My professor in Modern Judaism brought them up, and said that even though hamantashchen are supposed to represent the hat that Haman wore to the Jewish kids who eat them in the United States, in other parts of the world, hamantaschen are meant to be Haman's ears.

Hee hee. Nibbling on Baltar's ears... Wa ha ha...!!!

......um, if that idea vaguely turns me on in unspecific ways, does that make me evil? I hope not.

Fft. We're both evil, then. In a world with Haman-Baltar, it's fine with me!
