I could maybe kinda sorta blame Cartoon Network in part for the Mooninite Affair, but this? Who are they gonna arrest for pulling a hoax this time?

Agent 1: "Hey, this looks like it might possibly be a traffic device. While we're getting our people into position to examine it, maybe we can also call the Department of Transportation and see if they know what it is. If they do, they could give us tips to recognize if it's been tampered with. Then if it's harmless we could, you know, back off."

Agent 2: "No. It could be a bomb and it might blow up."

Agent 1: "But there's numerous non-drastic, quick and inexpensive steps we can take to correctly determine if it is a--"

Agent 2: "IT'S A BOMB."

Agent 1: "No, it *might* be a bomb. We can be cautious and use common sense at the same time."

Agent 2: "I WILL NOT ALLOW TERRISTS TO ATTACK THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE!"

Yeah, the Mooninite Invasion Affair wasn't completely the fault of the officials (although it doesn't speak highly in their defense that multiple other cities did not mistake their Lite Brights for explosive devices)...but, dude. It's from ONE OF YOUR OWN DEPARTMENTS. My god.
