Ironically enough it is now 0001 on Christmas Eve, totally wasn't intentional.
Life has been hectic here. I'm the only person in my office pretty much for the holidays so I have to spend a lot of time there doing crap (more than everyone else during the holidays, anyway). Everything involving my deployment is, frankly, stressful. I didn't realize saying, "Hey! I'll deploy!" would end up being such a hassle. The paperwork is now with my Army supervisors, and I know they aren't going to say "Non-concur" so I am pretty much good to go, finally. Now I am working on getting all of the required training, although my official training period doesn't begin for a number of months.
The holidays are pretty much the same as they always are. I'm gonna go see The Spirit on thursday, then probably go up to the Company building to hang out with Holland for an hour or so while he is stuck on CQ duty, then I will come back here and commence my Company of Heroes Marathon. For New Years I still tenatively plan to go to New Jersey, and hopefully that will pan out.
The good news is, if I bust my ass I can put on E5 in 4 months. So this weekend I am hitting up the rifle range and getting my marksmanship up again, and as always working on PT. And between that crap, I need to study for the board, go to WLC, try to go to either BDNA or Airborne (mostly for the promo-points at this point), start taking my correspondence courses, figure out which NCS courses count for points, re-evaluate the training aids at work so I can get an AAM.
I was going to start working on college, but fuck it. The Army is clearly taking over, no use fighting it. I am what I am, right?
