So I've all but decided at this point that after this enlistment I am joining the Border Patrol. It's good money, and it's not the agency. There are a couple of things the Army could do to keep me, and I told them as much, but I don't forsee them doing it. Those things include:
-Finally sending me to jump school.
-Finally sending me to SOF training.
-Getting me the fuck out of this work section so I can get experience in the disciplines I will need in the sandbox.
So Border Patrol has openings for Intel Analysts, and if you have 5 years MI experience (sounds like someone I know!) you go in with like a 3 rank promotion. And their PT test is cake, I just have to learn Spanish, so my SQL is setting me up with one of the spanish speakers in our Company to tutor me and help me out. Though I may not take the Analyst job, I may just be a ground pounder or do search and rescue. It's still 3 years away (God have I really been in for 2 years already?) so I have time to talk to their recruiter and figure it out, and who knows, the Army may actually own up and get me into Group, in which case I will stay and kick some ass.
Also, my military buddies and I are looking at setting up a trip to the mountains - 10 mile ruck out, 10 mile ruck back, and 1 day in-between of some SUPAR XTREEM PAYNTBALLZ. Anyone else interested? You only have to ruck what you plan on living off of, so if you think you can spend one day with nothing but the clothes on your back be my guest :P
