Spoke with the branch manager about my re-enlisting for Germany. Apparently the only slots available for my MOS/rank are with 10th SF Group. He's all like, "You'll need to either be airborne qualified or sign a statement saying you're willing to go to airborne... would that be a problem?"

NO. NOT AT ALL.

So it looks like when I get back from Afghanistan I'll be going to Airborne school, finally. AND, while I wont be going to selection, I WILL be attached to a special forces group, so I can start building contacts and getting my foot in the door, as it were. I'm pretty damn excited.

In other news, I won the Battalion Soldier of the Month board on tuesday, so now they want me to go to BN soldier of the quarter next week and then Brigade soldier of the quarter the week after. The BDE board requires a PT test and hands-on demonstration of "warrior tasks," in addition to the board itself, so it's a 3 day event. This would be all fine and good if I had more notice, since tuesday night after the board I signed up for a million classes for promotion points.

Also, I should be going to the promotion board for Sergeant in July, hopefully pinning a couple of days before I ship. First Sergeant supposedly thinks I'm hot shit now, so my early promotion is looking good.

Food for thought - My buddy wants to ford the potomac river in his Hyundai Accent, hes making me go with him. So apparently I will die by drowning in the Potomac... who knew?
