Did it again
Earlier, I was thinking of the movie Memento. The protagonist suffers from some sort of brain damage (probably to his hippocampus, necessary for declarative memories and memory consolidation) after trying to stop his wife's murderer.
Unable to form anterograde memories, he tattoos his body in order to remind himself of his mission in life: to avenge his wife's death.
Like the protagonist, I've also taken to writing over myself (unlike the protagonist: not because of some serious memory deficit; I am just somewhat absentminded). My left hand now bears reminders of all sorts, beginning with the palm of my hand and then continuing halfway up to my elbow. ;D
