Hero's War Journal: Escalation

"They're madmen! Mad cyborgs. Madborgs. I'm just glad to be out of here!"

--- Councilman Camden

There have been many great battles in Paragon City of late. The Freakshow rampaged across town. A time traveling member of the 5th Column named Ubelmann raided the present time. The Devouring Earth plotted to distribute a mutagen into Paragon City. 'General Z' helped to bring the Sky Raider's actions to light. And the goddess Tielekku was spared from falling into a trap laid by the Banished Pantheon.

The Freakshow staged what they called the Freaklympics, a combination sport contest and criminal rampage across town. I battled them across town, busted numerous leaders, and finally crashed their award ceremony thoroughly humiliating them as a group and their leader Dreck.

Ubelmann the Unknown was a member of the 5th Column dating back to World War 2. He was sent to the present to gather information and technology and then return to the past to change history. I would find him a madman were it not for a hero that recognized him. It ended with him trying to hijack a Portal Corporation laboratory and use it to return to the past. He was stopped.

A powerful mutagen was almost distributed into Paragon City. The Devouring Earth tried to slip it into lunches meant for city schools, i.e. for children. They tried to dessiminate it into the water supply. But they were foiled at every turn. I'm still not quite sure who or what this Hamidon that rules over them is, but it's clear that this mutagen is extremely powerful, I've seen the results first hand.

The Sky Raiders have repeatedly tried to cover up their crimes, even going so far as to attempt to transport an entire office building into another dimension. Thanks to 'General Z', whose identitiy will remain unstated for now, light was exposed on their activities and origins, not just here in Paragon City, but around the world.

The goddess Tielekku is an ancient being, one of the first born into this world. She invented the magic that has since percolated down through mystics and wizards the world over. She led one gathering of gods in war against those that were banished, the so-called Banished Pantheon, whose hunger for souls was insatiable. Now the Pantheon wanted to summon and trap Tielekku to feed on her power. They were stopped, as were the Warriors who wanted to gain control of her powers.

Back in Salamanca, I spent some time battling the Red Caps, working with a Midnight Squad researcher. I think I'm close to breaking the mystic curse over this land, or at least keeping the curse from running to completion... I just have to wait for the Red Caps to attempt their ceremony, and stop it.

I also visited Warburg. What a nightmarish place... reminds me of home.
