CHARACTER INFORMATION
Canon Character and Series:
Sebastian Michaelis ; Kuroshitsuji
In-Game Name:
Sebastian Michaelis
Age:
Appears to be 25, actual age is around 350
Gender:
Male
Position & Ship:
Previously: Fiertia ; Cook
Currently: Amestris ; Cook

Appearance:
Sebastian, standing at 6'0", is actually quite slender and effeminate. He was once termed 'a tail-coated Romeo', and indeed, Sebastian could give Romeo a run for his money. He has jet black hair that's always combed neatly, with rather long bangs that fringe around his pale face. One of his more odd and noticeable features are that he has blood red eyes. They turn to slits and glow an eerie color when he's feeling particularly angry- but then, those glowing eyes may be the last thing you see on this earth at that point.

His butler nature always keeps himself groomed neatly, and his clothes are no exception to this. He is hardly ever seen in anything else besides his black uniform, though he sometimes trades it in for a gray one if he happens to be tutoring Ciel. Sebastian never takes off his gloves, the left of which covers the pentagram symbol of his contract with the Phantomhive heir.

Personality:
Sebastian's one purpose is to be the butler to his master, Ciel Phantomhive- and of course, a stubborn and weak master like his needs certain characteristics in his butler to balance out the inequalities. He is the pillar that Ciel relies and depends on, a foundation in which Ciel sometimes nearly takes for granted. In many ways, Sebastian represents the adult that Ciel has always wanted to be. In comparison to him, Sebastian is calm and collected, almost coolly indifferent in his feelings and actions- indeed, he faces dangers for Ciel without so much as batting an eye. He looks at the world in a mildly interested, detached way; anything that catches his interest is treated almost like a toy. Very rarely will he be genuinely feel any sort of positive emotion at all-- he is capable of showing the perfect charade of any emotion, and like an actor, keep up an excellent guise of it until the very end. His manners are impeccable, and abilities are second to none-- so much so that he is adept at anything and everything he knows and attempts. He is also an intellectual, to be sure (having lived for so many years, there is nothing else to take in but knowledge), but even he does not know everything in the world (or rather, he does not care to). If it has relevance to what his Young Master requires him to do, he will take great pains to try and learn something new until he perfects it. To anyone who sees him in action, he could possibly be considered the perfect butler.

But everyone in the Phantomhive household knows that he's not quite perfect. Sebastian's dry wit and sarcasm often rise up with a vengeance when he's particularly displeased. If something angers or irritates him, he won't hesitate to bring down an iron fist over the household. He gets easily exasperated when his work and schedule is interrupted, which is quite often, owing to the messes the rest of the Phantomhive staff get themselves into (that he always has to clean up). And he's known to be quite strict with Ciel during his lessons.

There is another more cruel and sadistic side of him that speaks of his demonic nature, hidden from most everyone instead of Ciel. He is ruthless and cruel in battle, and his natural indifferent nature as a butler can be seen all the more clearly when he's feeling particularly vindictive, or when he's dealing with someone who is considered an enemy-- he won't even think twice of disposing of them.

One of the few flaws that Sebastian has is that he's completely devoted to the 'aesthetics' of this contract. His perfect appearance and mannerisms sometimes crack when he's confronted with something that will ruin that aesthetic, revealing that much more cruel side of himself to others. It seems, however, that his aesthetics are not completely set in stone...

Sebastian loves to twist words around, picking at what is said and what is implied. He has a mocking and condescending demeanor that he indulges in whenever Ciel seems to be having an especially difficult time. The two of them, however, do share a closer relationship than Ciel (and perhaps Sebastian) would like to admit, not only finding amusement at poking fun at each other and even goading the other into anger, but also in rather small and considerate gestures on both their parts that are often forgotten in the next instance. In fact, these small gestures seem to imply a deeper caring for the young boy than just a demon and its prey, and he only seems to show his slightly more playful side to Ciel or his cat. He only is ever truly 'loving' or 'gentle' when he is presented with a cat, mainly because of his 'weakness' for felines-- big or small, wild or tame, Sebastian cannot resist taking the time to stroke their silky fur and soft paws, and often he'll forget his surroundings as he plays with them. A different, almost coddling and endearing side of him can be seen that is a stark contrast to his innate nature.

Almost always, though, he is interrupted in these rather peaceful moments, and then the cycle of exasperation and irritation, cruelty and vindication begins anew.

Abilities/Weapons:
STRENGTH, SPEED, SENSES, IMMORTALITY | Once he became a demon, Sebastian's strength far surpassed that of any human man. He is able to single-handedly take down an entire force of armed men, and knows a great deal of fighting styles and techniques as well-- some that may even seem rather outdated. He's very resourceful in a fight, and won't hesitate to use anything as a weapon, be it coat hangers, china dishes, or his favorite, expensive silverware; his aim is deadly, whatever he uses. In addition to strength, Sebastian has a remarkable speed with which he can accomplish anything within moments, really: he has collected massive amounts of research and information within an hour what would normally take weeks to compile. He also has heightened five senses, and an all important sixth sense that allows him to know when Ciel is in danger (or considering putting himself in danger). Immortality also plays a crucial role in his duties to his master-- he is incapable of being killed by simple mortal weapons, able to recover and heal himself from any wound. All of these powers are granted to him through his demonic nature.

BUTLER WORK | His title as the Phantomhive house's butler is not superficial. In day-to-day life, Sebastian's superior skills in housekeeping, cleaning, cooking, accounting, and utter catering to Ciel's needs are also important to the efficiency in how the Phantomhive mansion is run-- because after all, if he left all the work to those four, nothing would ever get done. In particular, Ciel himself praises his butler on the desserts he is capable of making, claiming he has never had sweets as delicious as the ones Sebastian makes. They are to die for, you could say. These abilities have been learned through his long life and are separate from his inherent demon powers.

How well can your character hack?:
He can hack up to Medium-security posts. He has no qualms about doing it either. It's something he's learned to do in order to do reconnaissance for Ciel.

Weaknesses:
Sebastian's contract with Ciel is probably one of his more major weaknesses. It binds him to Ciel, and thus he technically has no free will. Through it, he is obligated to do anything and everything that Ciel commands him to do. While he is a demon and heals faster than a normal human, he's not impervious to pain- the pentagram on his hand especially causes him intense physical pain whenever anyone or anything besides his master touches it. He wears his gloves at all times to make the pain more bearable.

History:
Sebastian's life began about one hundred and fifty years after Reial came to be. He was born Jasper Harris, the only son to an up and coming nouveau-riche family in Melior. His parents were prominent scientists, working to research the still relatively new discovered magic of mana crystals. The curious parents raised an equally curious son, and it was with quiet enthusiasm that Jasper hailed his own little experiments with magic. He grew to be a genius, nearly as brilliant as his parents, and his prospects for a future as a well-to-do scientist were bright.

It was when he was twenty years old that he started veering off the path everyone envisioned he'd follow. Jasper's experiments with magic slowly turned more and more questionable, until at one point, he seriously thought he'd be able to summon God himself. Unfortunately for him, there was a magical backlash, and Jasper found himself floating in a void- Limbo, as some people called it. He might have floated there for the rest of his existence, had some evil deity deemed him dark enough, and given him interesting advice. Become sin itself, embody the evils of man and the agony of darkness, it said. Collect souls for nourishment, and it will allow you walk on the earth again, more powerful than you'd ever imagined. Jasper, accepting this alternative to Limbo, found himself back in the living world, not quite living himself. He'd become a demon.

He'd been in Limbo for far more time than he'd imagined. While his body had only aged about five years, he'd really spent close to 50 years suspended in that black void. He returned to the living world to find that his parents murdered, he supposedly dead as well, and his company in different hands. Now perpetually stuck as he was for the rest of eternity (as demons were afforded immortality), Jasper discarded his old name and roamed Reial, offering his supernatural services in exchange for human souls. He learned, he saw, he experienced. He became an observer of the world and all its ways, and so he wandered.

Several hundred years and many of these demonic contracts later, he was ritualistically summoned by Ciel Phantomhive, a pitifully young boy being tortured and humiliated (and almost about to be killed) by a nameless organization. They had been hoping to call upon God, perhaps, as Jasper Harris had tried to do so many years ago-- except now it was he who played the role of demon.

What a small Master you are. With those words, he offered the boy his services as his immortal servant, in exchange for his soul. Ciel Phantomhive accepted without hesitation, and his first orders came forth-- kill them all. Kill all of the people in that organization, in that room, who had humiliated the once carefree child and broken him until he'd been left nothing else but to agree to a demon's deal.

Once the whole building was devoid of life beside the child's, Ciel bestowed the new name of Sebastian Michaelis and the job of being the Phantomhive butler to his demonic servant. It turned out that Ciel was the child of the deceased Earl and Lady Phantomhive, who had tragically died in a fire at their own mansion, caused by the very people who had tortured and sold Ciel into slavery in the first place. With the earldom now on Ciel's small shoulders, Sebastian followed after, rebuilding the Phantomhive mansion, hiring new servants, and helping Ciel establish his new Funtom Company.

Under their contract, Sebastian has been working for Ciel for almost three years. Life is far from boring for Sebastian-- there are certain "cases" that Ciel works on occasionally, secret missions of sorts that are given to him through the Ivonian Parliament. Ciel inherited the job of being the "guard dog" for the government from his father, and seeing as many of these cases have to do with unsavory characters in the underground network, it's Sebastian's job to act as the brawn to Ciel's brain in order to deal with them. One murder case involved Ciel's own aunt, Madam Red, and a death god accomplice called Grell (who developed an unfortunate attachment to Sebastian...). While Grell got a way thanks to his superior William T. Spears, Madam Red's fate is still "unknown" to this day.

A while later, Ciel dispatched Sebastian to the airship called the Fiertia, wanting him to keep an eye on things as per the Parliament's orders. Sebastian spent the better part of a year on that ship; Ciel occasionally boarded the Fiertia as well, but mostly stayed in Bellcius where the mansion was, to oversee his company (how Ciel got along without Sebastian, neither would ever know). Sebastian made acquaintances and companions on that airship that he'd never expected to. He was nearly having fun, until the Fiertia exchanged hands because of certain circumstances, and many people on it parted ways. With the crew of the Fiertia essentially disbanded, Sebastian returned back to Bellcius and the Phantomhive mansion, whereupon he returned to his usual duties as a butler.

Several months later, Ciel received another request from Parliament to check out the relatively new airship Amestris-- despite it labeled as militarily neutral, it had ties with Ivona, and despite it being Ivonian, Parliament was still concerned about its actions. So they've sent out their "Guard Dog of Ivona" to investigate it-- and naturally that guard dog's butler went along as well.
