Sarah walked through the garden inspecting the greens and browns growing in perfect little rows. Soldiers guarding the furry soil that brought them to life. She squatted down into the dark soil and peered into a leafy crop that twirled and spun into a tangle of lines and ovals.

Reaching for her spade she thrust into the soil until she found her treasure chest. Blinking back up at her, the potatoes smiled with cheerful expectation. “Hello Sarah, the ants have been asking about you. They seem to think that your little toe has been taken over by swallows but we all know that’s just plain silliness. They wouldn’t fit for all the elephants and their families.”

Smiling to herself, Sarah knew their advice to be true. Those funny little ants and their quirky ideas. However she knew she just had to do something about those mischievous elephants. They just couldn’t continue their naughty, inhabiting ways. They hadn’t even enquired for her permission.

Straightening back up she bid the potatoes farewell and many thank you’s and covered them up once more. Strolling over to the zucchini’s she heard a scream and turned in panic. A dash of brown and white flew by, filling her with memories of fire and hail. Fear burning knots in her stomach she froze and sped through plans of attack. “You should just let them take what they came for and let them leave Sarah.’ Eyes unfocusing and becoming glass she murmured a reply, almost inaudible. “They’ve been stealing carrots again. I can’t let them murder innocent carrots again. Not after last time. Never again.”
