--I have my own apartment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <--look, exclamation points.

I've been in Kent since late-ish on the 9th of January. I made the trip in one day, woot 11 hours of driving in really random conditions. I started off with a lovely 50 degrees in Sumter, South Carolina, after crossing over into West Virginia I was treated to a mini-blizzard with crappy road conditions, but as it's written on the library carts at Antioch I kept on truckin'. Once I was in Virginia it cleared up a little and I had nice clear skies, until crossing over into Ohio where there was more snow, but of the managable variety.

After pulling into my hotel, a nice little Days Inn where I've stayed before I see this reddish-brown liquid splattered ALL over the driver's side of my car, and a bit on the passengers' side as well. It's sticky and has a sweet smell. First thought in my head, "Oh CRAP I'm leaking transmission fluid!!!" So I go to bed, freakin' out and kind of depressed because I have no means of transportation without my car because I don't know _anyone_ up here except for my potential (at the time) landlord and the person I'm kind of sort of seeing who is really busy and constantly working. So in the morning I limp my car over to the nearest mechanic (Dillon's Auto on Route 43) they put it up on the rack and tell me, nope it's not transmission fluid because your engine and everything underneath is completely dry. As it turns out they use liquid brine on the interstate and it looks an awful lot like transmission fluid apparently. I did check my fluid levels and they were fine, but there was a big damn puddle of this stuff leaking from my car when I pulled into the parking lot of the hotel. But I don't regret taking the car in, it's better than killing my car and they only charged my $6 to put it on the rack (I like using those local family businesses so I don't care that they charged me).

Once I had the car taken care of I went over to check out the apartment, do paper work, and meet the landlords. Barry and Leanne B. are very very nice people. We ended up talking for a good hour and a half. The apartment is awesomeness. It's not _huge_ but it's not tiny either. Yay! And I got confirmation that I could go ahead and start moving in today. Granted I extended my stay in the hotel another day before I went out this morning (to get my tags renewed and check my email) so I'll stay in the hotel tonight, but first thing in the morning, I'm movin' in. Eeeeeee.

By the way, I just want to say that I _love_ the Ohio DMV. Seriously. I renewed my tags this morning and it took me all of 2 minutes. Compared to the other DMV's I've had to deal with, they're fabulous. And so nice too.

PS: Who wants my new address? :-)
