--Demolition on Presidents has begun. Presidents was the party central of the campus. It was where most of the alternative kids hung out, whether they were pot heads, acid droppers, or just people who really liked the feel and set up of the rooms and the atmosphere involved. Oddly enough, the feel of Presidents has moved to the formerly uber-chem-free dorm that used to be known as Mills...but shall now be called...Millsidents, or New Presidents, or some other variation. Millsidents seems to have stuck better than anything I've heard so far.
--Anyway, I was watching the big Cat bulldozer take down walls and it was a really odd feeling. Not only was there this huge release of years worth of pent up energy, both good and bad, but it was also extremely weird seeing something being torn down that you knew exactly which parts of the building it was. I can't describe the feeling I got when I saw an inside door from the street, and then there's the complete change of landscape.
--These are buildings that the college told us they were going to tear down every single term. We got so used to hearing it that I don't think any of us realized they would actually do it. Now that it's gone it's like the Renewal Commission is really here to destroy everything and this is the phsical manifestation of that destruction... All we're left with is the concrete steps leading up to piles of bricks, metal, dry wall, and asbestos. What will we do with that?
