I only just realized that I never fished my entry for New York. And in fact that I haven't really been keeping up with my journal lately at all. Tis shameful. The last two weeks shall be rehashed in a series of several entries after this one.
So, my second day in New York was Friday. We slept late, and then went and picked up Angelica from work in the East Village. At this point it had been our plan to go get pierced, and so that was what we did. Previous to which there was some random driving around and just generally not having anywhere to park or stand in midtown. But yes, so, we went to get pierced.
I, of course, being the brave lass that I am, went first. The result is a 14 guage ring in the center of my lip of which I am exceedingly proud. Angelica had two more put in her cartilage. After this Sara had to go back to Queens to help her mother pack for her trip to Europe, so then Angelica, Lene, and I met up with thier friend Yoshi, and went in search of food, dry land (because it was pouring) and ibuprofen for my lip.
It was while I was sitting in Wendy's in downtown Manhattan that Drew called me. He basically said that we needed to "talk" because this open relationship thing wasn't working for him. I, by this point, had started to miss him a great deal. I told him that this was a discussion that we should have in person once I was back in California, and not when I was 3,000 some-odd miles away over a cell phone. He agreed and we rung off.
We stayed at Angelica's grandmother's appartment that night out on I beleive 104th on the East Side in Manhattan. Her grandparents are such loving, happy people! I instantly felt welcome there. There isn't a better hostess anywhere. I also tried my best to fix her computer while I was there- I don't know how much good I did though.
The next morning (saturday) We got up and were treated to a lovely breafast, after which we went thrift shopping. Or, I did, in any case. I found the perfect coat for my Mad Hatter bit. We also walked practically from one side of Manhattan to the other. As evening drew near, and after we'd had dinner out on Avenue B in Alphabet City, Lene went back to the Bronx, while Angelica and I took the train back to Queens. I made an attempt to fix her computer, and I got to meet her mom and her step-dad, both of which also rock. Her mom eyeballed me, and and then nearly molested me, because I was "cute and pale" Tiny tiny little latino woman treated me as though I was a kitten. Twas strange and a bit bewildering, but still very cool in it's own strange way.
Slightly thereafter, Sara picked us up, and we went to have a very late supper, after which we played pool, and I got really drunk on suitably decent martinis. It was about 3 or so in the morning when we went home, and I slept it off.
The next day, Sunday, Angelica and I went to Times Square. Which was mostly when I took all those pictures. It was so brightly colored, and bustled with so much life. I took pictures of everything I could. That was also the day that I went out to see where the Trade Center used to be. That was eerie at best. It remember it being overcast there, although when I look at pictures from Time Square the sky is really very blue and clear with fluffy white clouds. Standing in that big empty subway station staring up, trying to imagine how big those buildings must have been, and then the thought comes unbidden of the pictures of people -jumping out- of it... you can almost hear the echoes of the screams inside your head. We didn't stay there long.
I can't write about this anymore. Monday we went to China Town. Tuesday I flew home. Tuesday night I found out that Drew had met someone else. *shrug* What do I do when a boy leaves me? I go and find me a new one. Luckily I had Arthur in reserve. Arthur is a cool guy. More about my escapades in the morning. And I have many escapades to elaborate upon. ^_~ You, my dear friends shall hear all about it. I am indeed making an effort to get caught up here, On that note, good night!
