[Blood] Entry- Only A Shadow

Mar 01, 2008 20:18

I'm pretty sure this theme is still going on, but if not, just enjoy the drabble ^^;

Title: Only A Shadow
Couple/Charc: Rika, Satoko
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Obviously blood, with character death.
Summary: How does Rika react to the Satoko of Saikoroshi-hen?
Word Count: 600
Note: This is merely my suggested take on the death of Satoko in Saikoroshi-hen. I haven't played this arc, but have the basic jist of what happens, so this is what this drabble is based on. So, forgive me if things are not quite right.

"Nii Nii, Nii Nii!"

"Shut the hell up already! You're not Satoko; you're not my best friend!"

Rika raised the dagger once again, this time stabbing the blonde haired girl in the arm. The young girl cried out for her older brother again, feeling he was the only person that could save her. Satoko was a rather weak child when situations became too tough. She always had her brother's support, so whenever something went wrong, she would cling to him, and he would chase the monsters away. However, this time, there was no way for him to be her knight in shining armor. Rika had asked Satoko in her sweetest voice if she would follow her behind the shrine, for she had lost something important in the grass. The blonde thought nothing of it, for Rika was her best friend, and friends always helped one another. While Satoko was busily searching the grass for a keychain Rika supposedly lost, her body froze, and her eyes widened, as a sharp pain shot through her back. She turned her head slowly, to see her best friend hovering over her with a bloody dagger. Somehow, Rika's violet eyes seemed darker than usual, along with her hair, that was bathed in the light of the full moon. Satoko was stunned, but also terribly afraid. Instead of asking her friend what in the world she was doing, Satoko tried to rise from her hands and knees, and run as fast as she could. The young girl never had the chance, for as soon as she moved her leg, Rika kicked her roughly in the stomach. Satoko held onto her sore abdomen, while her best friend smirked above her. Satoko tried to imagine it was a nightmare, but the pain was all too real, and the blood all too red.

As her eyelids became heavy, and the pain turned into numbness, Satoko looked one final time into the eyes that had once belong to her best friend. She wanted to ask her a thousand things, apologize, scream, cry, but only one word left her mouth. "..Why?"

"I've already told you, you're not the Satoko I know. I had hope you know, in this seemingly perfect world. All the disasters had been avoided: Satoshi never left, my parents never died, Rena never moved away, Mion and Shion never switched placed, but how wrong I was. You see, these tragedies shape us into who we are. By rising above them, we become better people..stronger people. The Satoko I know is a very strong person. She misses her Nii Nii, but she never voices her sorrow. Instead, she keeps improving on herself, so he can be proud of her when he returns. The Satoko that you are..you know none of that strength. You are pathetic, and merely an eyesore. You're only a shadow of one of my most precious friends. Satoko has every right to live, but you..you make me ashamed I ever called you a friend."

Satoko stared dumbfound at the young girl above her. Her words sounded so foreign, that Satoko figured Rika had gone mad. Another Satoko? Her Nii Nii disappearing? It was all nonsense to the dying blonde. She tried to shake her head in protest, but a violent fit took her body, forcing blood up her throat, and spilled out of the corners of her mouth. The taste of tears and blood was the last thing she could remember, before her eyes shut for the final time.

Rika gripped the bloody dagger in her hand tightly, as two tears slid down her cheeks. "Satoko.."
