It's my friday...i have to quit smoking or my heart is going to assplode...i've been having chest pains like crazy....maybe i'll be dead by 33...who knows...this sux.
Do you inhale the pipe or cigar smoke? When I used to smoke those I didn't inhale. I still smoke them, but not as much as when I didn't smoke cigarettes all the time. If I smoke the pipe now, I inhale. It does smell a hell of a lot better.

Nope, you aren't supposed to inhale pipe or cigar smoke.
Pipe tobacco is blended specifically for taste &/or aroma. Often, though, you can do the nose-exhale without breathing the smoke into your lungs.
Cigars definitely shouldn't be inhaled. The medium- to full-bodied ones will close your throat right up and you'll fall down crying!
What stings me about cigarettes are - the lack of energy / drain you have - the intense spike (and comedown) of nicotine - the rollercoaster craving therein - the breathing disabilities
Pipe-smoking, on the other hand, is truly amazing. There are thousands of blends and dozens of tobaccos. It is something I do when alone. A pipe takes 30 mins to an hour if smoked right. The nicotine hit is very mild and not "spiky" - and the flavors are amazing. You feel good afterwards; not zapped or afflicted.
Cigars I generally smoke when driving or out drinking.
If I am ever lazy when out & do smoke a cigarette it seems puny, bland and hurts my self-esteem afterwards. :)

By the way, the best deal going on pipes that I have found lately is on pipesandcigars.com ---
The 3 pipes for $45 (hidden a few menus in) yielded some fucking awesome Angelo pipes that normaly sell for about $85 elsewhere. Plus they give ya a good bit of free tobacco (choose English!)
Their 3 pipes for $30 are also pretty good but they are just basic briars. Some big, some tiny.
On the whole straight pipes vs bent: it's a personal preference. I find both have advantages & disadvantages. Straights are easy to get excess moisture out of with a pipe cleaner while smoking. They also promote a J.R. Bob Dobbs image. The bents look cool and the angle helps keep the moisture from travelling up but they are harder to clean.
I have about 200 pipes now - some straight, some bent.
I use the Macarthur corncob (huge corncob - $12 or so on the site) for smoking Prince Albert tobac in the morning. Goes well with coffee!
I kept having weird chest pains and the like, in fact still do, but it started a couple of years ago. After seeing the doctor it turned out to be acid reflux. If you are having any kind of chest pains though, I would highly suggest seeing a doctor and possibly going to the ER. I doubt it's a heart attack, but better safe than sorry.

Do what the rest of us real men do............. smoke pipes and cigars only.
Tastes better. Smells better. Nicotine experience is more subtle. Chix dig it. And compared to cigarettes, pipe tobacco is WAY cheaper ($3/oz).
Thus... no pain in quittin' smoking, you can breathe again, you are 10 x more distinguished. :)
