Reino stood at the window, staring out at the glittering snowflakes as they fell from the sky, sparkling against the black backdrop of the night. In his right hand he held a glass of red wine that he swirled gently, absentmindedly, his left arm crossed over his chest.
The silence around him stretched and he frowned as his thoughts took a downward turn, his fingers tightening on the glass.
He was waiting, completely lost in thought, standing as still as a marble statue. He didn't even flinch when the door crashed open and Sho stumbled into the room, grumbling loudly.
"Bloody hell, it's freezing out there!" Sho exclaimed, glancing around the room and rubbing his hands together.
Reino didn't move from his spot.
Sho stared at him for a moment before closing the door behind him and kicking off his shoes. "Didn't think that it could get any colder. Speaking of, it's pretty cold in here too."
Sho waited for a reply but Reino ignored him, the frown still on his face. Sho raised an eyebrow and walked over to stand next to him.
"You're gonna get wrinkles if you keep frowning like that. Wouldn't want to spoil the fans fantasies."
Reino still didn't say anything, just tightened his grip on the glass again. Sho scowled. He didn't like to be ignored.
"Reino. You're pissing me off."
"It's been ten years."
Sho quickly snapped his mouth shut at the quiet reply, slightly floored.
"What?" He asked.
Reino turned to face him then, his frown turned to a look of pain and he closed his eyes. "It's been ten years. Ten years since...I can't...today..."
Sho frowned for a moment, trying to remember back that far. Was there something special about today of all days?
It was then that it hit him and he blanched, wondering at just how he could have forgotten.
Reino still had his eyes closed in pain, remembering. Sho noted, slightly disturbed, that he was trembling.
Without hesitating Sho reached out and pried Reino's fingers from the stem of the glass. With the way Reino was holding it, it wouldn't take much before it shattered in his hands.
Once the glass was safely placed on the table behind them Sho turned back and caught up Reino's right hand, bringing it up to his mouth so he could run his lips over the knuckles.
"Ten years, huh?"
Reino shivered in reply.
Sho flipped over his hand and placed small kisses in the palm. He could feel the snowflakes in his hair melting and had to repress his own shiver as icy droplets dripped from the ends of his hair onto his face and down his neck.
"You know..." he started slowly, "I am over it. Don't you think you should be too?"
Reino's eyes snapped open at that and Sho almost flinched at the look of fury that was directed at him.
Almost. He was in too much control of himself to actually react. Not now that he knew what all this was about.
"Over it?" Reino hissed at him tearing his hand out of Sho's grasp and gripping the back of the younger mans neck his thumb fluttering over the pulse. "You died!"
Sho shrugged gently and reached forward, tugging at Reino's other arm until it was wrapped snugly around his waist.
"Everyone has to die sometime. You of all people should know this."
Reino hissed again and tightened his grip until Sho was pressed flush against his body.
"I can't...you were dead. I saw you. I was the only one who could...and I nearly lost you."
"But you didn't." Sho said simply. Reino closed his eyes again and pressed their foreheads together. "Besides," Sho continued, "who would you have annoyed if I went?"
This got a small smile from Reino and Sho took great delight in it, even if Reino was still trembling badly.
"I'm still here." Sho whispered.
Reino slowly nodded, opening his eyes and catching Sho's gaze. "I love you."
Sho shivered at the whispered admission and pouted playfully, a devilish smirk playing across his lips. "Nu-uh. You don't get away with that."
Reino raised an eyebrow. "Oh reeeeeally?"
Darting in, Sho nipped at his lips. "You have to show me." He whispered breathily and watched smugly as Reino swallowed harshly before his own lips were crushed and his breath was stolen from him and everything else was forgotten.
