As Scarlet Aniston slept in a crib surrounded by old Care Bears (they're Gus's he swears), Shawn had to actually give thought what happened with Phoenix. At first, it was just awesome sex between two consenting demons, that was all. Shawn taught Nix new ways to use the ceiling and Kaelen educated him in being more comfortable in his own body, and not in a Very Special Afterschool Episode kind of way.
Then shit started getting serious as the incubus began to search for Spencer's very precious soul. The fake psychic had somehow kept his soul and it apparently allured other, less friendly demons to him. By the tinge of desperation in Phoenix's voice, whoever his master was, he wasn't a patient person. The moment he figured it out, Shawn almost did what had become almost natural to him now: eat the bad guy.
And yet, Spencer couldn't bring himself to hate Kaelen...he just couldn't. He had gone from a great fuck to friend to...something else. It was natural for the charismatic pseudo-psychic to be a smart-ass but he demonstrated a sense of kindness and camaraderie to Phoenix.
The Soul Train of Thought was suddenly interrupted by the baby girl's squirming and whining. Henry thought it would be a learning experience for Shawn to care for a child for a week. But what Spencer really wanted was Phoenix to be there with him, being childish, pouty, sexy but above all, with him.
