Work can be *so* interesting
Well, got called into work early because Lori called out sick and Teri (who they had filling in liquor for most of the morning had to leave around 1 as this was her only day to get out early) didn't want to stay until 2. That left me with Sherry as head cashier and Sandy as her helper.
I trust you can see problems resulting already.
For those that don't know, Sherry is one of those people that should never be given a management position because they tend to completely stress out about everything that goes on. She also gave me my 1st break at a good time (and this was about the only thing she did right on my end), as I worked 8 hours I was supposed to get 2 breaks and 1/2hr lunch.
There was a brief power outage @ 7pm and all the registers went on the blink because of it. I got my lunch around 7:30. All fine and dandy, but when I came back Sandy, who gave me my break, yanked the other till in liquor and was completely shocked when I informed her that I still needed another break.
Shortly afterward, around 8 or 8:15, Sherry called saying that she had no one to come over and give me a break and invited me to come take a look. Now anyone knows that the last half-hour to 45 mins of a liquor store's hours of operation are some of the busiest possible and I was unable to look and verify her statement. When I finally managed to get all the customers chased out (no one banging on the door after lights-out, hurray!) I straightened up the store and then put the trash outside the department and took a look around at the cashiers and imagine to my surprise that I saw a couple people that could work over in the department. All they have to do is be 18 to sell/serve it.
I'm so glad I'm looking for a different job... I don't wanna deal with this crap any more. In the grand scheme of things, this is incredibly minor, I admit; but this was the denial of something that I had coming to me without even being asked if I would be willing to skip it and for such a B.S. reason too.
