...But if this is the future when why is everything so primitive? I don't see any steam pipes on the phones and the kinematron in the parlor doesn't have any dials to make calls on.

The future's kind of crappy, really. I'm disappointed.

Because they run on steam! There are little motors or something inside them, I don't know. I don't make the things!

I guess these are hooked into the wall instead? Maybe there's an outside generator.
